Hi guys!
I'm new to the blogging world, so until I get the hang of it, just keep that in mind and cut me a little slack ;)
I'm not really sure what direction I want this blog to take yet..so if anybody has any advice or words of wisdom or anything they would like to see me write about, I'm all ears!
I figure that I'll start with one health or workout tip a day and tell you all a little about my workout / eating habits of the day and go from there..!
I'll first start off by telling you all a little about myself.
I am going in to my third year of college. I am going to school to obtain my B.A. in Kinesiology. Most people are unfamiliar with what kinesiology actually is..Kinesiology is, in a nutshell, "the study of movement of the body." People who are training to become physician's assistants, athletic trainers, physical therapists, etc, enter into this field. I plan on doing a few things with my degree. First of all, I would like to obtain my personal trainer's certification by the end of this summer and begin personal training sessions. Eventually, I would like to open up my own workout facility, something that is different than most other facilities (I cannot put my exact plans on here, though, because I obviously do not want someone taking my ingenious ideas! ;) ). I would also eventually like to return to school to obtain my Master's in nutrition and get a license for being a dietician.
I am interested in health, nutrition and exercise. Although I am not a certified trainer yet, I am very knowledgeable in a plethora of workout routines and exercises.
My goal for this blog is to inspire others as I go through my personal journey as a "gym rat/health nut" to live a healthy lifestyle as I do.
On this blog, I'd like to add healthy recipes, my personal food journal, my personal workouts, ETC. Any personal questions or tips that you may have as a reader will certainly help me make this blog something extraordinary and worth viewing ! - SO please, DON'T BE SHY!
In today's blog, I will include today's workout. I recently joined a new gym and am really loving it so far. I like to get in to the gym and get out, so I tend to superset (do two different exercises as one set) a lot of my workouts to not only increase the intensity of my workouts which will aid in burning more calories, but to get me out of the gym quicker.
I work out with a five day split -
Day 1: Lower body
Day 2: Back and Biceps
Day 3: Chest and Triceps
Day 4: Shoulders
Day 5: Full Body
Day 6: Rest
Day 7: Rest
I warm up before each workout with 10-12 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio and every other day conclude my workouts with a 10-15 minute ab workout that varies each time.
Today happened to be day four of my workout - shoulders.
- Warm-up on the elliptical for 10 minutes at moderate intensity
- Barbell Upright Rows: 10-12 reps 4 sets
- Kettle-bell front raises: 12 reps 3 sets
superset with
- Lateral dumbbell raises: 10-12 reps 3 sets
- Stability ball dumbbell press: 12 reps 3 sets
superset with
- Dumbbell shrugs: 10-12 reps 3 sets
I finished my workout with a triset (3 exercises as one rep) of abdominal workouts.
- Hanging leg raises - 10 reps 2 sets
- Bosu ball elevated plank
- Bosu ball elevated mountain climbers
Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!
Again, I would appreciate any advice anyone has for me ! I realize it will take awhile to obtain readers, but hopefully we can get this blog up and running shortly !
Until Next Blog!
